Guide to Crescent Heights High School

Welcome to Crescent Heights High School! We are playing in this historic school on seven Wednesdays this Fall. Direction to the auxiliary gym is a little tricky, so this is for you if you have never visited the school before.

  • Parking is at the student parking lot at the back of the school off 11 Avenue.
  • Access the double-door entrance off the student lot. All other entrances around the school will be locked.
  • Turn left and walk down the hall.
  • Before you get to the end of the hallway, head up the stairwell on the left.
  • Turn left through the doors at the top of the stairs.
  • Turn right and go through another two sets of doors to the Aux Gym.

There are six courts at this venue, but unfortunately the court lines are very close to the walls. Our Tuesday venue at Georges Vanier remains available fairly regularly this season.

The same school rental policies apply to this venue. As such doors are officially locked at 19h15. If you are arriving late, phone numbers are posted at the door to contact the organizer. It may take a few tries to get your call answered while games are in progress. We are required to vacate the building by 21h00.

See you there on Wednesdays!

Western Cup XLI wrap up

The second Western Cup badminton tournament since the relaunch was a smashing success over this Easter long weekend. We had an almost capacity turnout of 14 and 9 doubles teams in the A and B Divisions respectively. We welcomed about 1/2 of all registrants who made the long drive from Edmonton to spend the long weekend with us!

Once again, a special thanks to our last minute hospitality sponsor Red Bull Canada who generously donated their products. Special thanks to Team Edmonton’s Doran W. who put out the word in our capital region. Thanks Kathy L. for sharing pictures from the tournament. For more pictures, or if you have more to share, please visit our tournament google drive.

We trust that everyone had a smashing great time as we continue to learn and improve from this experience. We will be taking valuable notes and reviewing the feedback to help us host an even better tournament in 2026.

Until then, happy smashing!
